In the last fifteen years, Venetian plasters, lime paints or other cementitious-based materials have made major inroads into the architectural and interior design arena when it comes to a flowing color or textural scheme that a homeowner envisions, or a visual theme that a business is trying to implement.
Venetian plaster is the general term that refers to a putty made from slaked (fired) limestone, marble flour (42%) and water. There is a 0% VOC content for this combination of natural elements. Quite literally, it’s earth on your walls and is same materials used in ancient Rome, Greece and Egypt and other kingdoms of antiquity. And incredibly enough, it has endured the test of time – both physically and aesthetically.
The resurgence of plaster in contemporary living due to the technological advances in the composition of lime plaster that have made it much easier to use. On the same note, tools being created are adapting to the demands of modern architectural designs. As more people become exposed to the look and feel of VP, it becomes more prevalent and accepted in society.
I’ve seen customers who refuse to hang anything on the wall because it would mar the beauty.
